Matches
Throughout the year,friendly and competitive fixtures are arranged with other Counties and Groups mainly on a home or away alternate year basis. The numbers of players for each match varies from 16 - 24, four - ball form of play. Members will receive from the Hon. Secretary. 5/6 weeks in advance of each fixture match details and will be requested to reply if wishing to be considered for selection or otherwise. A nominal match fee is payable.
Oxfordshire Golf Captains
Each year in May 3 matches are played in Cornwall followed by 3 matches in September in Oxfordshire. The inaugural match was played on 24th May 1970 at St.Enodoc Golf Club. The result Cornwall 1, Oxford 3. In 1973 Phillip Haynes (Oxford founder member) donated a trophy, 'The Wychwood Shield' for the series winning team which most frequently was won by the host side and as the 3rd day match was often a 'dead rubber' in 1977 Fred Davies (Oxford) in honour of Harold Truscott (Cornwall) presented the third day trophy. The fixture has continued to this day and over a long period of time many long lasting & special friendships have developed between members of the two counties.
